AND WHEREAS HEY SUGAR WAS CREATED TO FOSTER COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A WELCOMING PLACE FOR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS TO GATHER, AND THE DECATUR LOCATION CONTINUES THIS MISSION, WITH SIX EMPLOYEES SERVING RESIDENTS AND VISITORS FROM A HISTORIC DOWNTOWN BUILDING WITH SCENIC VIEWS OF THE WISE COUNTY COURTHOUSE. AND WHEREAS HEY SUGAR SERVES ITS OWN TEXAS CREAMERY BRAND OF ICE CREAM AND IN THE PAST YEAR PROVIDED THE COMMUNITY WITH MORE THAN 6,000 POUNDS OF CANDY AND CHOCOLATE AND HAS RECEIVED COMMUNITY RECOGNITION FOR EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, INCLUDING THE 2024 READER'S CHOICE AWARDS FOR BEST MILKSHAKE AND BEST ICE CREAM, AND THE 2026 READER'S CHOICE AWARD FOR THE BEST. OH, I'VE GOT IT TWICE. BEST ICE CREAM TWICE.

WHEREAS MARCH IS RECOGNIZED NATIONWIDE AS THEATER IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH.

A TIME TO CELEBRATE THE IMPORTANT ROLE THAT THEATER EDUCATION PLAYS IN THE LIVES OF STUDENTS AND OUR COMMUNITY.

AND WHEREAS THEATER IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH IS SPONSORED BY THE EDUCATIONAL THEATER ASSOCIATION AND SUPPORTED IN TEXAS BY THE TEXAS EDUCATIONAL THEATER ASSOCIATION TO ADVOCATE FOR QUALITY THEATER PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS.

AND WHEREAS, PARTICIPATION IN THEATER EDUCATION HELPS STUDENTS DEVELOP CREATIVITY, CONFIDENCE, COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, CRITICAL THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITIES THAT PREPARE THEM FOR COLLEGE CAREERS AND LIFE LONG SUCCESS.

AND WHEREAS THEATER PROGRAMS FOSTER EMPATHY AND CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING BY ALLOWING STUDENTS TO EXPLORE DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES AND STORIES, STRENGTHENING THE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

AND THEN SHE WENT ON TO PLANO AND IS CURRENTLY THE DIRECTOR OF ARTS WITH THE PLANO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT.

SO WE KNOW THAT THEATER IS VERY IMPORTANT TO TO STUDENTS AND LEARNING, BUT ALSO, AS THE PROCLAMATION SAID TO OUR COMMUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT DIVERSITY AND STRUGGLES. LIKE YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT THE SHOW THAT YOU GUYS ARE PREPARING.

AND THEN OF COURSE, THE PROCESSING THROUGH THE SYSTEM AND THEY ARE BROKEN OUT IN BETWEEN A REGULAR EVENT, AND THEN OF COURSE, A NONPROFIT EVENT BEING HALF PRICE.

THAT'S GOING TO HELP OUT A LOT. WE DO, YOU APPROVED THE RESIDENTIAL INFILL POLICY HERE A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND THAT HELPS WITH THESE IMPACT FEES BY OFFERING UP TO $25,000 IN REIMBURSEMENT ONCE THE PROJECT'S COMPLETED ON IMPACT FEES.
