THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT THE POLICE CHIEF CAMPBELL CAME TO ME AND ASKED WHAT REGULATIONS WE HAD IN PLACE TO REGULATE THESE, THESE TYPE OF OPERATIONS.
THESE ARE THE COIN OPERATED MACHINES MOSTLY AT GAS STATIONS THAT YOU SEE.
AND WE DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING ON OUR ORDINANCE CURRENTLY THAT WOULD REGULATE THIS IN ANY WAY, WHETHER IT'S THROUGH ZONING OR REGULATION OF THE MACHINES.
SO DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS, COLLABORATED WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND LEGAL TO BRING FORWARD AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF WHAT'S KNOWN THROUGH TEXAS STATE LAW AS AMUSEMENT REDEMPTION MACHINES.
AND THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF CALLS THAT HAVE BEEN COMING IN ASKING WHAT OUR ORDINANCES ARE ON THIS WHERE THEY'RE ALLOWED WHAT REGULATIONS ARE IN PLACE, WHAT PERMITTING IS IN PLACE FOR THAT? TO 12 A.M. IT ALSO PROVIDES FOR A MINIMUM OF ANNUAL INSPECTION OF AN ANNUAL INSPECTION AND SUSPENSION OF PERMITS FOR CERTAIN VIOLATIONS. THIS ORDINANCE ALSO DOES EXCLUDE CERTAIN MACHINES LIKE CLAW MACHINES, GAME MACHINES THAT YOU FIND AT PLACES THAT KIDS PLAY.
THINGS LIKE THAT. WHETHER IT'S BAG TOSSES OR BASKETBALL SHOOTING GAMES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
IT DOES EXCLUDE THOSE FROM THIS. THIS IS STRICTLY FOR A CERTAIN TYPE OF MACHINE.
SO WHAT WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDATION OF STAFF?
