THAT IS NO LONGER IN OUR CONTRACT.
WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANY CASH.
SO WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE ACCEPTING CASH LIKE THAT ANYMORE.

SO IF THERE IS A FILTRATION OR A FILTER SYSTEM ON THERE AND YOU GOOGLE SOME OF THESE IMAGES AND IT BLOCKS YOU FROM SEEING THESE IMAGES, I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD HAVE THOSE BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY.
SO WHATEVER THIS PROCESS IS, THAT'S NOT APPROPRIATE [INAUDIBLE] WHATEVER THIS PROCESS IS, WE AS A COUNCIL NEED TO LOOK AT THIS PROCESS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS HAVE SEEN THESE IMAGES, BUT THEY ARE OUTRAGEOUS.

AND I DON'T WANT THEM LOOKING AT A HUSTLER MAGAZINE IN THE LIBRARY.
SO THERE ARE LIMITS TO WHAT YOU CAN HAVE IN A PUBLIC LIBRARY.
AND THAT'S WHY I JUST THINK THAT A VERY DIVERSE PUBLIC COMMITTEE COULD HELP US MAKE APPROPRIATE DECISIONS FOR OUR COMMUNITY ON WHERE DIFFERENT MATERIALS ARE APPROPRIATE AND MAYBE WHERE THEY'RE NOT.

SO. BUT BRINGING THIS TO MY ATTENTION REALLY MAKES ME WANT TO PULL BACK A LITTLE BIT WITH THE VOLUNTEERING AT THE LIBRARY, WHICH I DON'T WANT TO DO, BECAUSE NOW I ALSO SIGNED UP TO HELP WITH THEIR NEW HOME STUDYING PROGRAM BECAUSE I DO A LOT OF HOMESTEADING THINGS THAT ARE RANCH.

AS HOMESCHOOLERS WE ARE ACTIVE USERS OF THE LIBRARY AND WE DO LOVE IT.
THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE FACT THAT THESE BOOKS WERE THERE.

THEY LOOKED CLOSELY AT BOOKS WRITTEN FOR CHILDREN WITH GRAPHIC IMAGES OF SEX ACTS, BOOKS THAT DEPICT ANAL SEX TOYS AND VIBRATORS, BOOKS THAT ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO LOOK FOR ONLINE COMMUNITIES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SEX FETISHES.
BOOKS THAT ENCOURAGE MY CHILDREN AGE 1 TO 19 TO LOOK UP PORN AND ENJOY IT AS A SUGARY TREAT.
NOT ONLY DID THEY KEEP THEM, THE LIBRARY WANTED TO MOVE THEM TO THE TEEN SECTION.
HOW ARE WE EVEN HAVING A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE MERITS OF THAT CONTENT? JUST MOMENTS AGO, THE DIRECTOR SAID, WE REALLY FOUND NO FAULT WITH THE CONTENT.
WE REALLY FOUND NO FAULT WITH THE CONTENT.
THEY EXAMINED THOSE BOOKS AND FOUND THEM TO BE ACCEPTABLE.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT BANNING OR CENSORSHIP.
IT'S ABOUT REFLECTING OUR VALUES.
PEOPLE CAN ACCESS THOSE BOOKS IN MANY OTHER WAYS, INCLUDING INTERLIBRARY LOAN IF THEY NEED THEM.

THE NEXT YEAR THE CITY WILL SAY, WE'RE GOING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CONCEPT AND WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF THE TAXES THAT WERE PAID IN 2022 AND HOLD THEM BACK AS A CREDIT FOR THE ASSESSMENT THAT COMES IN 2023.
SO LET'S JUST FOR EASE OF DISCUSSION, YOUR [INAUDIBLE] ASSESSMENT IS $1,500.
SO IN 2022 THE FIRST YEAR YOU'D GET A $1,500 DOLLARS BILL.
IN 2023, YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE 500 FROM THE CITY'S TAXES THAT WERE PAID IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY OF 2023 AND THEN BILL THE HOMEOWNER IN 2023, $1,000.
SO WE NEED $1,500 DOLLARS PER HOUSE PER YEAR TO SERVICE THE DEBT.
