AND IT HAS BEEN JUST A ABSOLUTE LIVELY FIRST QUARTER FOR US IN THE DECATUR FIRE DEPARTMENT, 767 RUNS TO DATE. THE MAJORITY OF THOSE RUNS ARE BROKEN OUT BETWEEN FIRE, RESCUE, HAZMAT AND, OF COURSE, MEDICAL SERVICE. IF WE COMPARE THAT TO--. OR WE'LL BREAK THAT DOWN RATHER INTO CITY VERSUS COUNTY CALL VOLUME, I KNOW THAT'S ALWAYS A POPULAR TOPIC FOR EVERYONE, 221 OUT OF CITY RUNS AND THEN 546 IN CITY RUNS. AND THAT'S--. OUR IN CITY CALLS HOLDING FAIRLY STEADY, AND TRUE, ABOUT 65% OF OUR INNER CITY CALLS ARE MEDICAL OR TRAUMA RELATED AS A RESULT OF SOME SORT OF ACCIDENT OR TRAUMATIC INJURY. AND THEN, OF COURSE, HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS, MISCELLANEOUS. VERY NASTY YOUNG PERSON. WE'VE ALSO BEEN EXTREMELY BUSY WITH TRAINING, THE SPRING-- OR THE EARLY YEAR, EARLY TIME OF THE YEAR-- EARLY SPRING IS A REALLY GOOD TIME FOR US TO GET OUR HANDS DIRTY. WE'RE USING TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE FOR THE BULK OF OUR TRAINING. YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT'S A KRUM FIRE ENGINE IN THE BACKGROUND THERE. WE'RE WORKING ON OUR MUTUAL AID AND AUTOMATIC AID RESPONSES. SO WE PARTNER WITH KRUM AND BRIDGEPORT AND A FEW OTHER FOLKS TO GET THEIR RESOURCES OUT THERE SO THAT THE FIRST TIME WE WORK TOGETHER IS NOT WHEN WE DIRELY NEED EACH OTHER IN THE 911 RESPONSE. WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO ROPES TRAINING AT TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE WHICH IS, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT WE'VE DONE THAT AS A DEPARTMENT. AND IN THAT, WE ALSO LEVERAGED SOME INCIDENT COMMAND AND CONTROL OPPORTUNITIES THERE TOO. SO YOU SEE THE GUYS AND GIRLS, THERE ALL ON TOP OF THE SIX STORY HIGH RISE PROP OUT THERE THAT YOU CAN SEE IN EVERY DIRECTION FOR SEVERAL MILES. IT'S A REALLY NICE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FOLKS TO PRACTICE IN A VERY CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE. [00:05:07] OUR WILDLAND TRAINING THAT WE CONDUCTED IN MARCH WAS PROBABLY THE MOST VALUABLE WILDLAND SCENARIO WE'VE HAD IN QUITE SOME TIME, BECAUSE WE WERE IN THE SAME EXACT CONDITIONS WHERE LARGE FIRES, THE FIRES WERE JUST ABSOLUTELY RAGING ACROSS THE AREA, AND WE PUT TOGETHER A VERY SAFE PLAN THAT HAD NUMEROUS ELEMENTS OF SAFETY BUILT INTO IT SO THAT THE FIRE WOULDN'T GET AWAY FROM US. AND YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE FRUITS OF THOSE LABORS, IF YOU WILL. THAT BURN, WE CONTROL BURNED ABOUT 200 ACRES OR SO, AND WE EVEN GOT RICHARD IN ON SOME OF THE ACTION AS OUR LOCAL PRESS. FRONT AND CENTER UP TOP IS THE SHATTERED DREAMS PROGRAM. WE PARTNERED WITH DECATUR P.D. WISE COUNTY EMS, WISE A HEALTH SYSTEM, AIR EVAC, A FUNERAL HOME, SEVERAL OTHER BIG PARTNERS, AND WE BROUGHT A PROGRAM TO THE STEPS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTING THE DANGERS OF DRINKING AND DRIVING AND WHAT THAT CAN DO TO ONE'S LIFE. AND IT'S A TWO DAY PROGRAM THAT ENDS WITH A GUEST SPEAKER WHO TELLS A STORY OF A TRAGEDY. IT'S A REALLY GREAT PROGRAM AND THE KIDS REALLY SEEM TO RESPOND VERY WELL TO IT. SO IT WAS NICE TO BE BACK IN THE SCHOOL DOING THAT. THE BOTTOM THERE IS A PHOTO RECENTLY FROM WILEY HARDWARE. WE--. THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH DECATUR ROTARY, I THINK LAST TIME I TALKED TO YOU, WE DISCUSSED WE'D BE BUYING A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE ALARMS. DECATUR ROTARY BOUGHT US 315 SMOKE ALARMS AND WE PICKED THEM UP THERE AT WILEY, AND THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH US. AND OUR GUYS GO OUT TO THE STEM ACADEMY. I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY TIMES A YEAR, BUT THIS ONE WAS PRETTY FUNNY BECAUSE YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE JOKES THAT COME WITH YOUNG TANNER TERRELL READING HIS-- READING TO THE KIDS BECAUSE IT HASN'T BEEN TOO LONG SINCE SOMEONE READ TO HIM. SO WE GIVE HIM A HARD TIME ABOUT THAT, BUT WE REALLY HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH THAT AND THE KIDS LOVE IT. THE FIRE PREVENTION OFFICE HAS BEEN EXTREMELY BUSY, CHIEF BENNETT AND CAPTAIN MERCER DO AN OUTSTANDING JOB. THIS QUARTER, THEY HAVE DONE DOZENS OF THINGS FOR US. OUR BUSINESS INSPECTIONS ARE PICKING UP ALMOST 60 THERE, FOOD TRUCK INSPECTIONS ARE RAMPING UP IN ANTICIPATION OF THE FOOD TRUCK CHALLENGE, WE'VE DONE A COUPLE OF VERY LARGE INSPECTIONS THAT TAKE MULTIPLE DAYS. OUR SENIOR CENTERS, THE BUILDINGS THAT SPREAD A LARGE SQUARE FOOT, TAKE A LONG TIME FOR US TO GET IN THERE AND FULLY DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION, SO THE GUYS ARE DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB OF TAKING CARE OF THAT. AND THEN THE PLAN REVIEWS ARE KEEPING A STEADY PACE, OUR CO PERMITS ARE PRETTY HIGH TOO, AND THEN 21 STATION TOURS, SEVERAL MEETINGS, AND WE PUT DOWN THERE AT THE VERY BOTTOM SMOKE ALARM SOLUTIONS. THAT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM WE COME AND DUST OFF YOUR SMOKE ALARMS TO WE COME AND CHANGE YOUR BATTERIES OR WE INSTALL NEW.
